Web streamed tuition - the 21st century classroom.

MedaPhor’s web streamed modules gave Senior Lecturer Rita Phillips’ class a helping hand when 12 MSc ultrasound students at the University of the West of England gathered at the university’s IT centre to log on to MedaPhor’s gynaecological ultrasound modules.

For their introduction to online skills training, each student examined the web-streamed modules at their workstations, enabling Rita to move between them to check progress and provide individual guidance as and when requested.

“The advantage of this module is that it can be delivered on line, the students are able to observe ultrasound images and planes synchronised to anatomy” says Rita “the step by step procedure means that students are able to grasp and absorb important principles in a couple of hours at their own pace. This is a module that can be useful for a novice practitioner in ultrasound who is developing scanning skills.

Student comments:

“If you are not used to cross sectional imaging, this module helps you to understand the different scanning planes.”

“Overall it was a very useful tool for recognising normal anatomy of pelvic structures on an ultrasound scan”
